Silvia champions the ancient Chinese game of Go as a teacher of valuable life skills. She has continuously applied the art, science and game of Go to her own research, teaching and community engagement.
Silvia is the Founder and Director of Institute 361, which gamifies strategic thinking using lessons from the game of Go.
Two Go players, aged 8 and 26, join Silvia on stage to demonstrate the game’s potential to foster social connections and personal growth.

About the speaker
Life-long Go player and aspiring Go scholar, Dr Silvia Lozeva has lived and worked in New Zealand, Australia, Bulgaria, Russia, the UK and Central Europe.
Dr Lozeva is an academic at the University of Western Australia. She has a research interest in migration and citizenship, and an academic background in sustainable development, gender studies and politics.
She has worked in advancing equity and diversity initiatives in the higher education sector and led campaigns on the prevention of violence against women and advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander reconciliation.
Dr Lozeva is on the Board of Directors at Multicultural Futures, and on the International Political Science Association Board (Migration and Citizenship).
