For thousands of years, the Whadjuk Nyoongar people have lived on the lands of Boorloo (Perth) and used yarning to pass history, culture and perspectives of the future between generations.

TEDxPerth acknowledges the Whadjuk Nyoongar people as the Custodians of these lands and waterways, and extends our respect to Elders past, present and emerging.

Nominate a speaker

Do you have a brilliant idea? Or know someone who does?

We’re always looking for new voices and new ideas to add to the TEDxPerth community. Our events take those great ideas and help them grow.

But to do this, we need to find them. We are always keen to find speakers who will excite and delight our audiences. If you think you belong on our stage – or you know someone who does – we want to hear about it.

Speaking at TEDxPerth

Speakers don’t have to be well-known

What matters is having an idea about which they are passionate.

Anyone can nominate anyone

You don’t have to know a nominee personally to suggest them.

Only one nomination is needed

Multiple nominations won’t increase someone’s chances of selection.

Speakers do not receive payment

TEDxPerth speakers are not paid, nor can they offer to pay for a spot.

Talks are time-limited

A TEDx talk is limited to 18 minutes – speakers can’t request more time.

Support is offered

Speakers are guided on how to shape and polish their presentation.

An additional benefit of speaking at TEDxPerth is that your presentation may be featured by TED

If you can conjure up a compelling idea in people’s minds, you have done something wondrous. You have given them a gift of incalculable value. In a very real sense, a little piece of you has become part of them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can’t find the answer you’re looking for?

Who reviews speaker nominations?

All speaker nominations are reviewed by our Curation team.

Is there a deadline for nominations?

We accept nominations all year round. It’s best to get them in as early as possible ahead of an event.

Are speakers covered for out of pocket costs, e.g. accommodation and meals?

Our intention is to offer accommodation and travel expenses to speakers who live outside of the Perth area. Food and drinks are provided during the event, and all speakers are invited to the official After Party.

I’ve nominated someone but it’s a surprise! How long will it be before they get a call?

It can take a while for us to reach out to them. It’s best to let the person know about the nomination so they are expecting our call and feel prepared – some people don’t like surprises. Better still, encourage them to nominate themselves directly.

Can two people give a TEDx talk together?

Almost all TED and TEDx Talks are by a single speaker. Although two-person talks have been featured in past events, TED generally discourages it.
