About this talk

In searching for connection and calm, Yoke Mardewi found happiness in a bowl of dough.

Yoke teaches sourdough for a living but makes sourdough to survive emotionally. She shares three sourdough life lessons that have shaped and transformed her life.

The slow, purposeful process of making sourdough is a gift. Yoke urges us to notice what gives us simple joy—we all need to find our sourdough.

About the speaker

Coming from diverse careers in both fashion and finance, Yoke took the plunge and decided to work on her first love—the making and sharing of food, particularly sourdough breadmaking.

She works her passion by running classes around Australia and writing books on sourdough. She has featured on Western Australian TV, ABC Radio and in various websites and blogs, newspapers and magazines, many of which named her the Queen of Sourdough.

Yoke feels it is a huge blessing that she is not classically trained as a baker, so she can spread the sourdough revolution to home bakers everywhere, including gluten free sourdough!
