When TED told us they were launching Countdown, a golbal initiative to champion and accelerate solutions to the climate crisis, we knew that we too must #JoinTheCountdown, turning ideas into action in Perth and Western Australia.

The goal? To build a better future by cutting greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030 in the race to a zero-carbon world - a world that is safer, cleaner and fairer for everyone. Countdown, TEDxPerth's Climate Leadership Summit, took place at the State Reception Centre on 25 November 2020. Our live audience of 250 of Perth's leaders heard from six brilliant speakers. We are delighted that these talks are now available online and, as always, for free.

  • Jeff Hansen, CEO, Sea Shepherd Australia
  • Brendan Hammond, Head of Australia, Intercontinental Energy
  • Chantal Caruso, Director of Policy and Research, Clean State Initiative
  • Miranda Taylor, Chief Executive, National Energy Resources Australia
  • Dr Anne Poelina, Nyikina Warrwa Traditional Custodian MD of Madjulla Inc.
  • David Carter, CEO Austral Fisheries

All these talks are available to watch here. We are immensely grateful to all our speakers and to Fiona Stanley AC who shared her reflections on the day and her own thoughts about the action we all need to take. You can hear what she had to say here.

The program booklet is here.

Countdown was Curated by Meri Fatin and Rob Lines. The event was Certified Carbon Neutral by Climate Active and we are grateful to our Principal Partner Accenture and our Major Partner Containers for Change for their support in helping us to present this event.
