How to leverage online citizens to real world action. Michael Sheldrick talks about clicktivism done right.

Michael is the Global Director of Policy and Advocacy at Global Citizen, where he has coordinated several international advocacy campaigns including in support of universal sanitation, access to education and the eradication of polio.

Serving as the organisation’s main representative to the United Nations, and involved in the production of the renowned Global Citizen Festival, Michael has worked with world leaders, musicians and philanthropists from around the world including Ban Ki-moon, Beyoncé, Usher, Rihanna Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada and former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, and was instrumental in mobilising political and public support for the launch of the UN’s Global Goals for Sustainable Development - a blueprint that seeks to end extreme poverty by 2030.

Michael holds degrees in law and political science from the University of Western Australia; was 2013 Young Western Australian of the Year; a state finalist for 2014 Australian of the Year; and has previously been listed by The Sunday Times as one of WA’s 50 Best and Brightest.
